When living in Athens, Ohio, you have a lot of great food options at your fingertips. Cutler’s Restaurant, 2021 Diners Choice winner, located within Ohio University Inn and Conference Center is always a popular choice. Recently renovated, this restaurant—with its charming American colonial-inspired design—offers a delicious array of specialty comfort food.

With a diverse menu, there is something for everyone whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Everything is also prepared using locally sourced fresh ingredients. It is a very popular local spot so you can make a reservation ahead of time to avoid a long wait.

Nature Trails and Hikes

Living in Athens, Ohio, there are a few hiking options with varying levels of difficulty. However, two very popular options are ‘The Ridges Loop Trail’ and ‘Rockhouse Trail and Athens trail loop.’

The Ridges Loop Trail is a 2.9-mile loop trail that features beautiful historic and forest areas. Considered fairly challenging, this hike takes about one hour and 15 minutes to complete on average.

Rockhouse Trail and Athens Trail Loop is a 3.9-mile loop trail that is also considered to be fairly challenging. Taking an average of one hour and 39 minutes to complete, this loop trail features a beautiful lake, forest, caves, and rock formations. Remember to wrap up before you head out as it can be cold at this time of year. 

Visit a Museum 

If you want to encourage your more artistic side, the Kennedy Museum of Art at Ohio University is focused on education and features thought-provoking and engaging encounters. The museum features all kinds of art exhibitions and lectures. You can plan your visit or check the events and exhibitions on their website.

If you want to encourage your artistic side but also love hot dogs, O’Betty’s Hot Dog Museum in downtown Athens is an iconic must-see. Here, you can enjoy the vast array of different sausages and toppings while looking at all sorts of hot dog memorabilia that cover the whole restaurant.

Thanksgiving Events on Campus

Many campuses host their own Thanksgiving events. These events provide a sense of community and connection for students who can’t go home for the holiday. They also offer a chance to enjoy traditional Thanksgiving foods and activities.
